Severely discharged batteries

Explanations regarding severely discharged batteries:
Batteries which have not been operational for a long time, e.g.
in stock vehicles, discharge themselves.
A battery is severely discharged if the no-load voltage has drop‐
ped below 11.6 V.
If a battery is severely discharged, the battery electrolyte (sul‐
phuric acid/water mixture) consists practically only of water as
the sulphuric acid portion is greatly reduced.
