• Lift the w iper arm away from the rear w in-
dow .

your view. This can lead to accidents.

• Switch the ign ition off and move the w ind-
shield wiper lever to position © ¢

The windshield wipers move into the
service position.
• To bring the wipers back into the original
position, swit ch the ignition on and press
the windshield wiper lever.
You can also turn the service position on or off
in the radio/MM!*:
• Switch the w indshield wipers off (posit ion
@ ¢
page 53, fig . 52).
• Select :

wipers > Service position > on/ off . Or
• Select :

Removing the wiper blade
• Lift the w indshield wiper arm up from the
windshield.
• Press the loc king knob

• Remove the wiper blade in t he direct ion of
the arrow .

Attach ing the wiper blade
• I nsta ll the new wiper blade in the reta iner
on the wiper arm @ unti l you hear it click in-
to place on the wiper arm .
• Place the wiper arm back on the windshield.
• Turn the service position off.

WARNING
For your safety, you should replace the
wiper blades once or twice a year. See your
authorized Audi dealer for replacement
blades.

Note
- The windshield w iper blades must only
be replaced w hen in the service position!
Otherw ise, you risk damag ing the paint
on the hood or the windshie ld w iper mo-
to r.
- You should not move your vehicle or
press the windsh ield wiper lever when
t he wipe r arms are folded away from t he
w indshield . The windsh ield wipers wou ld
move back into their original position
and could damage the hood and wind-
shield.
- To help prevent damage to the wiper sys-
tem, always loosen blades which are fro-
zen to the windshield before operating
w ipers.
- To help prevent damage to wiper blades,
do not use gasoline, kerosene, paint
thinner, or other solvents on or near the
w iper blades.
- To help prevent damage to the w iper
arms or other components, do not at-
tempt to move the wipe rs by hand .

Tips
- Commercial hot waxes applied by auto-
matic car washes affect the how easily
t he glass surface can be cleaned .
- You can also use the service position, for
example, if you want to protect the
w indshield from icing by using a cover.
