TP port (twisted pair port)

The SCALANCE XCM-100 media converter has an RJ45 socket with MDI assignment as twisted
pair port.
The port works in autonegotiation mode and uses the autopolarity and autocrossover
functions. You can connect the port with any devices using crossed and uncrossed cables.
Autonegotiation
The twisted pair port of the SCALANCE XCM-100 operates exclusively in autonegotiation
transmission mode, which must also be set for the twisted pair port of the partner device. A
configuration of the partner device deviating from this increases the number of lost message
frames and is therefore not permitted.
The SCALANCE XCM-100 establishes a 100 Mb link via autonegotiation in Fast Ethernet mode.
The SCALANCE XCM-100 establishes a Gigabit link in Gigabit mode.
Autopolarity
If the cores are mixed up within a core pair (incorrect wiring), SCALANCE XCM-100 automatically
adjusts the polarity.
