Video
No picture L_ If your TV d_s not turn on, and a red light keeps flashing, your TV may
(screen not lit), no sound need service. Call your local Sony Service Center.
L_ Make sure the power cord is plugged in.
L_ Press the POWERbutton on the front of the TV.
L_ Press the V/V D[O button to cycle through the connected video sources.

problem.
"Black box" on screen L_ You have selected a text option in the Setup Menu and no text is available.
(See page 77 to reset Setup selections.) To turn off this feature, set the
Cap ion Vis 0rJ option to Of. If you were trying to select closed captioning,
select COl instead of_X _4.
Black bands appear at the L_ Some wide-screen programs are filmed in aspect ratios that are greater
top and bottom of the screen than 16:9, such as 2.35:1. (This is especially common with theatrical
releases). Your TV will show these programs with black bands at the top
and bottom of the screen. For more details, check the documentation that
came with your DVD (or contact your program provider).
Audio
Good picture, L_ Press M INS so that the word Muting disappears from the screen (see page
no sound 40).
L_ Make sure the 5peake option is set to On in the Audio Menu (see page 69).
.... .,/ Make sure th e MS option is set to Stee or M0rJ0 (see page 68).
Cannot gain enough volume L_ Increase the volume of the cable box using the cable box's remote control.
when using a cable bOx Then press v HJ_c ON and adjust the TV s volume.
Sound seems weak or :_ The TV s audio might be set to Auto SAP or M0n0, when it might be better set
insufficient to Stereo. In the Audio Menu (see page 68), set the MlS setting to Ste eo. If
already set to Seeo, switch to M0r_0(which may reduce background noise
during weak stereo broadcasts).
Cannot raise the volume on L_ If the Sgeake optionissettoOffandtheAudi0Outoptionissettol-ixed(in
external audio speakers order to output the sound to your audio system) use your audio receiver to
adjust the sound (see page 68). Or, to use the TV remote control, set the
Audio Ou option to Variable
[J To turn on the TV speakers, set the Speake option to On (see page 68).
