Starting the Rescue system when using the Function Extender
Interface
The function of the SET button is independent of whether a SCALANCE LPE is used in
combination with a SCALANCE XCM-300 or in stand-alone mode. The Rescue system can
therefore also be started on a SCALANCE LPE which is connected to a SCALANCE XCM-300 via
the Function Extender Interface.
To start the Rescue system of the SCALANCE LPE, perform the following steps:
1. Switch off the power supply of the SCALANCE XCM-300.
2. Press the SET button of the SCALANCE LPE and reconnect the SCALANCE XCM-300 to the
power supply with the button pressed.
3. Keep the SET button pressed until the red alarm LED "A" of the SCALANCE LPE starts flashing.
4. Release the SET button while the red alarm LED is still flashing, and less than 6 seconds have
passed. You are now in the Rescue system.
The remaining procedure of the firmware update is the same as for a SCALANCE LPE
in standalone mode, described in the following section: "Firmware and Rescue system
(Page 57)".

Resetting the configuration
NOTICE
Previous configuration settings will be lost
By resetting the configuration, all the settings you have made will be overwritten by factory
defaults. The software components or applications you have installed will be retained.
Resetting the configuration during the startup phase
To reset the device configuration during the startup phase, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the power to the device.
2. Now press the "SET" button and reconnect the power to the device while holding down the
button.
3. Hold down the button until the red alarm LED "A" stops flashing and is permanently lit.
4. Now release the button and wait until the alarm LED "A" goes off again.
5. The device is restarted.
Resetting the configuration during operation
The "SET" button has no function during operation. You can reset the configuration with the
console command configreset or via the Web UI. You can find more information in the
configuration manual chapter "Device management", section "Resetting the configuration".
