Various Playback Modes Using the Remote
Commander
Locked picture search and digital scan can be activated
only by using the buttons on the Remote Commander.
Locked picture search
— Watching the picture during fast-forward or rewind
Press SEARCH t®
or <#4 on the Commander
momentarily during playback or in freeze picture mode.
To resume playback, press B PLAY.
Digital scan
~— Watching a monochrome picture at a faster speed
Press DIGITAL SCAN on the Commander momentarily in
fast-forward or rewind mode. To resume normal fast-
forward or rewind mode, press DIGITAL SCAN again.
To Obtain a Better Playback Picture
elf the picture seems to shake in freeze picture mode...
Press STILL ADJ inside the front panel until the picture
stabilizes.
elf the picture seems to shake in slow motion picture
mode...
Press TRACKING
¥ or & until the picture stabilizes.
if a noise band appears on the screen...
Set the VCR to the slow motion picture mode, and then
move the noise band by pressing TRACKING VY or A.
Readjustment may be necessary for tapes recorded on
other VCR's.

* Streaks will appear and sound will be muted in the
Betascan, Beta SkipScan and digital scan pictures.
Shaking of certain freeze or slow pictures may not be
stabilized completely and noise may not be eliminated
completely with the STILL ADJ and TRACKING
buttons
on this recorder.
Freeze pictures are difficult to see in TAI and FIs
modes. The appearance of these noisy pictures does not
indicate a recorder failure.
The tape counter may go slow in slow motion picture
mode.
When
normal playback is resumed from the freeze picture
or slow motion picture mode, the tape may have been
slightly advanced.
*in digital scan mode, the top and bottom portions of the
picture may be defective or the width of the picture may
vary.
*In various playback modes, a white band may appear at
the left end of the screen depending on the TV.
