Chapter 10 Reprocessing the Accessories

10.4 Rinsing the accessories following disinfection

Use appropriate rinse water as instructed in Section 6.6, "Rinse water".
Alcohol is flammable. Handle with care.
Consult with your healthcare facility's infection control
committee regarding rinse water quality as described in
Section 6.6, "Rinse water".
 Preparation
1.
Fill a sterile basin with the rinse water as described in Section 6.6, "Rinse
water".
2.
Completely immerse all accessories in the rinse water.
3.
While immersing the accessories completely in the rinse water, gently move
the accessories back and forth to thoroughly rinse the disinfectant solution
from the external surfaces.
4.
While immersing the accessories completely in the rinse water, wipe the
external surfaces of all accessories, using sterile lint-free cloths.
 Flush the Air/water channel cleaning adapter (MAJ-629)
1.
While immersing the Air/water channel cleaning adapter completely in the
rinse water, completely depress and release the piston of the adapter
several times.
2.
While immersing the Air/water channel cleaning adapter completely in the
rinse water, using the syringe, flush the holes of the adapter with 30 ml of
the rinse water each (2 holes) (see Figure 10.35).
3.
While immersing the Air/water channel cleaning adapter completely in the
rinse water and rotating the adapter 360 degrees, using the syringe, flush
the interior of seals and the back of skirt of the adapter thoroughly with 30 ml
of the rinse water each (2 areas) (see Figure 10.36).
 Flush the biopsy valve (MAJ-853)
While immersing the biopsy valve completely in the rinse water, using the
syringe, flush the interiors of the cap and the main body of the valve from
both sides with 30 ml of the rinse water each (4 areas) (see Figure 10.37).
