Additional information about rolled hems

Hold the thread chain tight when you start sewing to prevent it from
rolling into the seam.
Slightly tauten the material toward the sewing direction – this will make
the seam alignment finer.
The minimum width for sewing an overlock seam is about 1.5 mm, since
the cutting width cannot be set to less than 3.5 mm.

Securing the rolled hem thread chain

Apply a small drop of fabric glue to the
end of the seam and allow to dry. Then
cut the thread chain close to the end of
the work piece.
Note: check the fabric glue for colour
fastness before use.

Seam variations and sewing techniques

Decorative flatlock seams

Set the thread tension for a 3-thread
overlock stitch, sew the seam, then pull
the work piece open to smooth the seam.
The flatlock seam can be used as a
decorative utility seam or as a purely
decorative seam.
