i Troubleshooting
If you have a problem with your VCR, first check the power cord connection, then go through the following list. Should the
difficulty persist, unplug the unit, and contact your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony Service Center facility.
Symptom
The POWER switch doesn't
work.
Power
The power is iturned on but the
VCR doesn't work.
The clock has stopped and

TV reception is poor.
Time and Date Clock

Shaky and/or snowy picture
during recording.
No picture on the TV screen.
The VCR won't record.
The playback picture is not clear.
Possible causes and remedies
@ The power cord is disconnected.
@ The VCR is in the timer standby mode.
@ The safety device on the VCR has switched on. Tum the
power off, disconnect the power cord from the wail outlet,
and tet the VCR rest for at least an hour before trying it
again.
@ There has been a power interruption. Reset the time, date
and timer settings.
@ The channel for the VCR is not correctly tuned on the TV.
@ The TV signal is weak. Adjust the direction of the
antenna.
@ The AC power cord of the VCR is disconnected.
@ The TV's channel is not set to the one preset for the VCR.
@ The TV signal is weak. Adjust the direction of the antenna.
@ Press TV/VTR so that the VTR indication appears in the
display window.
@ The TV channel is not set to Ch 3 or Ch 4, or the video
input has not been selected on the TV or monitor.
@ No cassette has been inserted.
@ The cassette is at its end.
@ INPUT SELECT is not set correctly.
@ The channel for the VCR is not correctly tuned on the TV.
@ Acassette recorded on another VCR is being played
back. Adjust the tracking with the TRACKING NORMAL/
SLOW and STILL ADJUST.
@ The video heads are dirty. Clean the heads using the
Sony T-25CL video head cleaning cassette. For details
on cleaning, refer to the instructions furnished with the
cleaning cassette. if a cleaning cassette is not available
in your area, have the heads cleaned at your nearest
Sony Service Center facility. (Do not use a commercially-
available wet-type cleaning cassette. It may damage the
video heads.)
@ The video heads are worn out.
@ Adjust the SHARPNESS.
