Selecting a sound field (continued)
When headphones are connected
You can select the following sound fields only.
• HEADPHONE (2CH) (Headphone 2CH)
Output the sound in 2 channel (stereo).
Standard 2 channel (stereo) sources completely

Outputs the analog signals witbout digital
processing by the equalizer, sound field, etc.

CH IN2i jacks.
• HEADPHONE THEATER (Headphone
Theater)
Allows you to experience a the_ter like
environment while listening through a pair of
headphones.

2) For STR-DE985, MULTI CH IN 1 or 2.
Tips
• The receiver lets you apply the last selected somld
field {o a program somme whenever it is selected
(Sound Field Link). For example, if you lisCen to
CD with "JAZZ CLUB" as tile sound field, change
to a di fferenl program source, then return [o CD,
"JAZZ CLUB" will be applied again.
• You can identi¢_ the encoding format of program
sofware by looking _t its packaging.
Dolby Digital discs are labeled with lhe ._,_._. _
logo, and Dolbg Surround encoded programs are
labeled with the fltl_ logo.
• When sound signals with a sampling frequency of
96 kHz am input, the sound signals ale output in
stereo automztically, and tile sound field is turned
oft'.
Press 2CH.
"2CH STEREO" appe_s in the display.
This mode outputs the sound from the fi'ont left
_md right speakers only. Standard 2 channel
(stereo) sources completely bypass the sound
field processing, Multi channel surround
lbrmats _wedownmixed to 2 chmmel.
Note
NO sound is output from tile sub woofer when "2CH
STEREO" is selected. To listen to 2 channel (stel_o)
sources using the from leB and right speakers and a
sub woofer, press A. DEC to select "AUTO
DECODING".
The receiver can reproduce the stereo sound in
multi channel through Dolby Pro Logic n. You
can activate the decoder using the
CUSTOMIZE menu. For details, see page 44.
