Multi channel surround setup
(continued)
Tip
The ]_ceiver alhlws
you to inpul the speaker
position
in terms of distance.
However,
it is not possible
to set
die center speaker
furdter than the front speakers.
Also, tile center speaker
cannot be set more than
1.5 meters (5 fee0 closer than the front speakers.
Likewise,
tile sttrround
and surround
back speakers
can not be set farther away from tile listening
position
dlan the front speakers.
And they cart be no more than
4.5 meters (15 feet) closer.
This is b_ause
incorrect
speaker
placement
is not
conducive
to enjoy surround
sound.
Please note that, setting the speaker distance
closer
than the actual location of the speakers
wil! cause a
delay in tile output of the sound from that speaker. In
other words, the speaker will sound like it is f_r tber
away.
For example,
setting tile center
speaker distance
I-2 m (3-6 feet) closer than the actual speaker
position
will create a t3irly l_alistic sensation
of being
"inside"
the Selden. If you cannot obtain a satisfactory
SmTOUnd effect because
the surround
speakers
are too
close, setting the surround
speaker distance
closer
(shorter)
than the actual distance
will creale a larger
sound stage.
Adjusting
these parameter
while listening
to the
sound often results
in much better surround
sound.
Give it a tq!

usually no problem
when the sub woot?r ph_rse

However,
depending
on the type of front speakers,
the
position of the sub woofer, and the cut-off
frequency
of the sub woofer, setting the phase
pokwity to "REVERSE"
may produce
better
bass. Besides bass reproduction,
the richness
_md tightness
of tbe overNl sound may also be
_fffected. While listening
from tbe main
