OPERATION

NOTES:
• TheAVR635 isonlycapable of playing signals in
the MP3(MPEG l/Layer 3) format.Itis notcom-
patible withothercomputer a udiocodecs.
• Thedigital a udioinputsignalmaybeeitheroptical
or coaxial, b utthe signal m ustbe intheS/P DIF
format.Direct c onnection o f USBor serial d ata
outputs is not possible, eventhough the signals
am inthe MP3format.IfyouhaveanyquesQons

Somemayproduce unacceptable results andsome
maynotbe decoded. T hisis nota faultof either t he
computer o r theA\/R635, but rather a by product
ofthe unpredictable n ature of MP3playback,
IMPORTANT N OTES ONDIGITAL PLAYBACK:
• Whenplaying DVDs, please notethatevenwhenyou
haveselected a specific digital a udiotormatforplay
back,an individual discmaychange formats or the
number o f available channels d uring playback. For
example, evenifyouselect a DTS modeforthemovie,
youmayseeDolbyDigital i nusewhenthe trailers,
menus or copyright warnings a replaying. Thisis nota
faultwitheither t heAVRoryourDVD player, asboth
areresponding to thewaythediscwasc_eated.
• Whenviewing digital television s ignals, notethatthe
number o f audiochannels a vailable m ayvaryduring
the course of a program, d epending o n thecontent.
Forexample, whilea sportsevenmayhave5,1
sound, t hecommercials or local s tation contentmay

change to react t o theproper t ypeof audiostream if it
is changed bythe broadcast stallon.
• Although t heAVR635willdecode virtually a ll current
DVD movies, CDsandHDT,! s ources, it is possible
thatsomefutaredigital sources maynotbe compah
blewiththeAVR635.
• Notall digitally encoded programs contain full5.1
or 6.1 channel audio. C onsult the program guide
thataccompanies the DVD or laserdiscto deter
minewhichtypeof audiohasbeenrecorded on the
disc. T heAVR635 will automatically sensetheb/pe

• Whena digitalsoume is playing, youmaynot be
ableto select s omeof the analog surround modes

Tuner Operation
TheAVR635'sluneriscapable oftuning AM,FMand
FMStereo broadcast stations. Stations maybe tuned
manually, or theymaybestoredasfavorite station pre
setsandrecalled froma 30 position memo%
Station Selection
1. Press the AM/FMTunerSelectorButton
onthe remote to selectthe tunerasan input. T he
tunermaybe selected fromthefrontpanelby
either p ressing the Input SourceSelector[]
untilthetuneris active or bypressing the Tuner
BandSelectorI;4J
2. Press theAM/FMTunerSelectButton _
or
TunerBandSelector[] againto switchbelween
AM andFMsothatthe desired frequency bandis
selected.
3. Press t heTuningModeSelector[] _
to select
manual or automatic t uning,
When the buttonis pressed sothatA UT 0 /

will putthe tunerina scanmodethatseeks the
nexthigheror lowerfrequency s tationwithaccept-

station stopsat a stereoFMstation, a ndan

appear w henanAM or monaural FMstationis
tuned.Press the Tuning buttons a gainto scanto

Whenthebuttonis pressed sothat II A NU AL /

eachtap of the Selector w ill increase or decrease
the frequency b yoneincrement. Whenthetuner
receives a strongenough signal f oradequate

4. Stations mayalsobe tuneddirectly ineitherthe
automatic o r manual m ode.Toentera station's fre
quency directly, firstselect t heAM or FMband as
desired be pressing theAM/FMTunerSelect

Using the remote, up to30 stations m aybe stored inthe
/_,/R 635'smemory foreasy recall u sing thef_ont p anel
cornelsor theremote.
Toenterastation intotee memory, first 1 see thestalqon
using the steps outlined a bove. T hen:
1. Press t he MemoryButton0
on theremote; the
station's f requency willflash.
2.Within fiveseconds, press the NumericKeys0
co_responding
to thelocation where youwish to store
thisstahon's f requency. Once entered, thepreset
number w illappear i ntheUpperDisplayLine [].
3. Repeat theprocess after l sninganyadditional
stations b be preset.
Recalling PresetStations
• Tomanually select a station previously entered i nthe
preset m emory, press the NumericKeys_
that
correspond to thedesired station's m emory
