[] Aligntheslotinthe pawlsoverthe rearholeinthe
spreader/riving knife.
[] Push the pawlhandle downsnapping themintoplace
andrelease the button.
NOTE: P ullonthepawlhandle to make surepawls are
securely locked.
To
instal( b(ade guard:
[] Lift the guard lever up to unlock.
[] With the front of the blade guard raised, lower the
back of the guard into the middle hole of the spreader/
riving knife. Push the front of the guard down until it is
parallel to the table (see figure 15). If the blade guard
is not parallel to the table, the riving knife is not in the
spreader (or "up") position.
[] Lock the guard in place by pushing the guard lever
down.
NOTE: Blade alignment with the spreader can be adjusted
for different blade widths. Refer to: To Check and Align the
Spreader/Riving
Knife and Saw Blade. Check the blade
guard assembly for clearances and free movement.

To check a(ignment
of the spreader/riving
knife:
[] Unplug the saw.
[] Raise the saw blade by turning the height/bevel
adjust-
ing handwheel clockwise.
[] Remove the anti-kickback
pawls and blade guard
assembly. Place a framing square or straight edge
against both the saw blade and the spreader.
NOTE: Place framing square between carbide teeth
and measure from blade. This step will insure framing
square is square against blade from the front to back of
blade.

[] The saw blade and spreader/riving
knife are aligned
when the framing square contacts both the blade and
spreader/riving
knife evenly with no gaps.
If the spreader/riving
knife is out of alignment with the saw
blade, adjustment is needed. The spreader/riving
knife
must be in alignment front to back (horizontally) and top to
bottom (vertically).
To adjust (horizontally):
[] Remove the anti-kickback
pawls and blade guard
assembly.
[] Loosen the screws holding the mounting bracket.
[] Reposition the spreader/riving
knife left or right as
needed to align the spreader/riving
knife with the saw
blade.
[] Once properly aligned, securely retighten all screws.
To adjust (vertically):
[] Slowly turn the set screws until the riving knife is
aligned with the blade.
