HPE BMC

BMC is a remote server management processor embedded on the system boards of the servers. BMC
enables the monitoring and controlling of servers from remote locations. HPE BMC management is a
powerful tool that provides multiple ways to configure, update, monitor, and repair servers remotely. BMC
(Standard) comes preconfigured on HPE servers without an additional cost or license.

Web GUI introduction

The web GUI is a friendly interface for end users. A user can access the BMC FW via a web browser, and
then go through the server status and perform configurations on the BMC.
The default user privilege is set to administrator. The web function access rights are determined by
different privileges. For example, the administrator privilege can access all functions, but the user
privilege cannot.

IP address

Static and DHCP are the two common IP sources of BMC FW. The default setting is DHCP. The detailed
IP address information is available from the BIOS setup menu.

User name and password

A user name and password are required to establish a web GUI session. The user should also have
access to the LAN channel. Use the system management software to set the user name, password, and
grant access. The default user name and password can be obtained from the service tag.
