Selecting the switch mode
NOTE: In the auto‑input switching mode that is available from the front panel, the

Front panel security lockout (Executive mode)
The switcher has a front panel lock feature that locks the front panel. If you try to make front
panel input selections when the panel is locked, all front panel LEDs flash three times.
Toggle the front panel lock on and off as follows:

When the front panel is locked, contact closure and RS‑232 control are still available.
Reset
Use the recessed rear panel Reset button to initiate two levels of reset as follows:
Reset to default settings — Press and hold the reset button for approximately 6
seconds. All front panel LEDs cycle. Release the button. This reset is the equivalent of
issuing the
Reset to factory default condition — Cycle unit power off and on while holding the reset
button. All front panel LEDs cycle. Release the button.

SIS commands on page 15 for an auto‑input switching low mode,
which selects the lowest numbered input.
Press and hold the Mode (Input 1) button and the button for the desired mode for
approximately 5 seconds (see figure 10):
Auto (Input 3) — The Auto Switch LED lights.
Normal (Input 2) — The Auto Switch Active LED goes off.
Press and HOLD the Mode button
and either the Auto or Normal button.

Release the buttons.
Push and hold the Input 1, Input 2, and Input 3 buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds.
All front panel LEDs flash three times.
Release the buttons.
Reset
SIS command (
Ensure that all devices are plugged in and powered on. The switcher is receiving power
if one of the input LEDs is lit.
Ensure an active input is selected on the switcher or that the switcher is in auto‑input
switching mode.
Ensure that the proper signal format is supplied.
Check the cabling and make corrections as necessary.
Call the Extron S3 Sales & Technical Support Hotline if necessary.
