Pipe cutting
Special c are s hould be taken when cutting in pipes. If the
pipe is not properly supported and the cut kept open
t hrough out the cut ting, the blade might be pinched in the
k ick back zone and c ause a severe kickback. Be especially
alert when cutting a pipe with a belled end or a pipe in a
t rench that, if not proper ly s upported, may sag and pinch
t he blade.
Before st art ing the cut the pipe mus t be sec ure so it does
not move or roll during c utt ing.
I f the pipe is allowed t o s ag and close the c ut, the blade
will be pinched in the kick back zone and a severe kick
back might develop.
I f the pipe is properly supported the end of the pipe will
move downward, the c ut will open and no pinc hing will
occ ur.

1 First cut section I.
2 Move to side II and c ut from section I to bottom of the
pipe.
3 Move to side III and c ut the rem aining part of the pipe
ending at the bottom.

How to aviod kickback
Avoiding k ick back is simple.
The work piece must always be s upported so that the cut
s tay s open when cutting through. When the cut opens
there is no k ickback. If the c ut closes and pinches the
blade there is always a risk of kickback .
T ake care when inserting the blade in an existing cut.
Be alert to movement of the work piece or any thing els e
that can occur, which c ould cause the cut to close and
pinch the blade.

Transport and storage

• Secure the equipment during transportation in order
to av oid t ransport damage and accidents .
• For transport and storage of cutting blades, s ee the
section "Cut ting blades".
• Store the equipment in a lockable area s o that it is out
of reach of children and unauthorized persons.
