described in one special grid cannot usually be described in another special
grid.
For example:
These are the coordinates for the
Magellan offices in San Dimas,
California, displayed in Lat/Lon
(Deg/Min .01).
This is the same location, described
in UTM coordinates. The conver-
sion from Lat/Lon to UTM is made
automatically by the unit when the
position is displayed. This is pos-
sible because Lat/Lon and UTM
describe the same areas.
British, Irish, and UPS grids do not
describe southern California; this
position can not be described us-
ing those coordinate systems.
