    Installing SFP transceivers If not already installed, install the SFP transceivers that will be used to connect your appliance to the network . Caution: Do not install or remove SFP transceivers while fiber optic cables are attached . This can damage the cables, cable connectors, and optical interfaces .

Verify that the transceiver is latched: grasp the sides and trying to pull it out without lowering the extraction lever . If you can remove the transceiver, it was not latched correctly, and could become accidentally dislodged .

    19 inch (48 .3 cm) rack with the rack-mount brackets . In a rack, a FortiDB 1000D occupies 2U (3 .5 inches/8 .9 cm) . If the appliance has a redundant power supply, each power cable should be connected to a different power source .

    Shutting down Always properly shut down the FortiDB appliance’s operating system before turning off the power switch or unplugging the appliance . This causes it to finish writing buffered data, and to slow and park the hard disks . Do not unplug or switch off the FortiDB appliance before halting the operating system.
