● MD14XX, MD24XX, ME484, and tape drives on the same HBA card is unsupported.
● No loop back connections of enclosures are supported. For example, if there are two enclosures connected in daisy/
multipath configuration, then connecting a port of second enclosure again back to one of the port on the first enclosure is
not supported.
● Mixing of single path and dual path configurations on the same controller is not supported. For example, if Port 0 and Port 1
are connected to Enclosure 0, then you cannot connect Port 2 to Enclosure 1.
● Interleaving of port for dual path configuration is not supported. For example, if port 0 is used to connect the 1st EMM, then
only port 1 should be used to connect multipath to other EMM for the same enclosure.
● Using Port 1 and Port 2 for dual path on the same enclosure is not supported.
● Any combinations conforming to the above rules will be supported.

Supported Cable Configurations

● Connect to the JBOD EMM by using SAS4 cables only.
● Redundant cable configurations only:
○ Both EMMs must be cabled to the PERC or HBA in a server to properly manage the JBOD.
○ All elements cannot be monitored in single cable configuration. For example, fans, temperature, and probes.
○ Firmware of both EMMs cannot be upgraded in a single cable configuration. Peer update functionality is unavailable in
JBOD.
○ DUP supports only dual cable configurations.
● Symmetrical cable configurations only:
○ Chain configurations do not support asymmetrical cabling. All cables will run top to bottom or bottom to top in a stack.
● Mixing of enclosures in chain configuration is not supported:
○ You must connect enclosures of same model only. For example, an MD2412 can be daisy-chained only to an MD2412
enclosure.
