INSTALLATION
TANK WATER SUPPLY
If the water heater is supplied with water from a tank supply and a pressure pump
system is not installed, then the bottom of the supply tank must be at least 1 m
above the highest point of the hot water plumbing system, including the water
heater. Care must be taken to avoid air locks. The cold water line to the water
heater should be adequately sized and fitted with a full flow gate valve or ball
valve.
WALL BRACKETS
It is recommended to secure the water heater to the wall. The top of the unit is
to be secured to the wall (or screen) with the wall brackets provided using
fasteners suitable for the wall type and application.
The fasteners must be capable of bearing the weight of the water heater so it
may neither work loose, pull away from the wall nor impose any load on the gas
and water pipe work connected to the water heater. Refer to the fastener
manufacturer's information and recommendations for the type of fastener to use
for the wall type and load bearing requirements.
Two sets of brackets are provided with water heaters in New Zealand. Both sets
of brackets must be installed.
To fit the wall brackets:
Position a bracket against the
wall on one side and toward the
top of the water heater and mark
the fixing points on the wall where
the bracket is to be secured.
Repeat this process with the
remaining bracket on the other
side of the water heater.
Drill holes in the wall to receive
suitable fasteners for the wall
brackets.
Fix the wall brackets to the wall
using suitable fasteners.
Secure the bracket to the side of
the water heater using the self-
tapping screws provided.
