The individual danger/warning
messages are described on the
following pages:
• Danger messages with a red
warning light
• HIGH ENGINE TEMPERTURE
Indicates that the engine may be
overheating.
Stop the vehicle as soon as safe to do
so. Determine the source of the problem
once the engine has cooled down.
To avoid scalding, never
remove the cap from the
engine coolant reservoir when the
engine is hot. Do not restart the
engine until the problem has been
eliminated.
• LOW BRAKE FLUID LEVEL
Indicates that the brake fluid level is
low.
Stop the vehicle as soon as safe to do
so and check the brake fluid level.
Add brake fluid meeting Ford
specification at once to bring
the level up to the MAX mark. Have
the system checked by an expert.
Ford authorised repairers are
recommended.
If the brake fluid level is correct, there
may be a malfunction of the ABS
system. Have the system checked by
an expert. Ford authorised repairs are
recommended.
Vehicle information systems
• ENGINE SYSTEMS FAULT
Indicates that there is a malfunction of
the engine and/or related systems.
Stop the vehicle as soon as safely
possible and switch off the engine
immediately. Have the engine checked
by an expert. Ford authorised repairers
are recommended.
• BRAKE LIGHT FAULT
Indicates a malfunction of the brake
light switch electronics. The vehicle
can be driven as normal. However, the
automatic speed control (if equipped)
cannot be switched on when this
message is present. The vehicle can be
driven safely. Have the system checked
by an expert as soon as possible.
Ford authorised repairers are
recommended.
• ACCELERATION REDUCED
Indicates that there is a malfunction of
the Electronic Accelerator Control
(EAC). The vehicle can be driven
safely but the acceleration rate will be
noticeably reduced. Maximum vehicle
speed will be maintained.
Have the system checked by an expert
as soon as possible. Ford authorised
repairers are recommended.
