    4. INSPECTION & OPERATION THE MACHINE IS BEST SUITED TO THE COMPACTION OF BITUMINOUS AND GRANULAR MATERIAL E.G. GRANULAR SOILS, GRAVELS AND SANDS OR MIXTURES OF BOTH , COHESIVE SOILS SUCH AS SILT AND CLAY ARE BEST COMPACTED USING THE IMPACT FORCE PRODUCED BY A VIBRATING RAMMER. WHERE POSSIBLE THE SITE SHOULD BE GRADED AND LEVELLED BEFORE COMMENCING COMPACTION.
  • Page 10 4.1 INSPECTION Before Starting 1. Road safety instructions: the beginning of manual Clean the compacts, removing dirt and dust. Particularly, the bottom of the plate, engine cooling air inlet, carburetor and air cleaner. 3. Check the air filter for dirt and dust. If the air filter is dirty, blow through the air filter cartridge from the inside, moving a jet of dry compressed air up and down until all dust is removed.
  • Page 11 3. Insert and remove the dipstick without screwing it into the filter neck. Check the oil level shown on the dipstick. 4. If the oil level is low (Figure 4), fill to the edge of the oil filter hole with the recommended oil type (Table 3). Maximum oil capacity is 300cc.

If the V-belt becomes worn or loose, replace it by using V- belt part number RPF-3320 or A-32. 4.2 OPERATION Before operating the engine for the first time, please review the IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION and chapter titled BEFORE OPERATION.

    WARNING Carbon monoxide gas is toxic. Breathing it can cause unconsciousness and even kill you. Avoid any areas or actions that expose you to carbon monoxide. 4. Turn the engine switch to the ON position. 5. Operate the starter. Pull the starter grip lightly until you feel resistance, then pull briskly. Return the starter grip gently.
  • Page 14 Air Filter 1. The air filter element should be cleaned because a clogged air cleaner can cause poor engine starting, lack of power and shorten engine life substantially. 2. To clean or replace air filter loosen the wing nut on the air filter housing (Figure 15), remove the cover and takeout air filter cartridge.

    6. STORAGE If the plate compactor will not be used for a period longer than 30 days, following the steps below to prepare your unit for storage. 1) Drain the fuel tank completely. Stored fuel containing ethanol or MTBE can start to go stale in 30 days. Stale fuel has high gum content and can clog the carburetor and restrict fuel flow.

    The unit must be transported in the upright position to prevent fuel from spilling. Do not lay machine on its side or top. Secure or tie down unit using the lifting handle to prevent machine from sliding or tipping over. Machine may fall and cause damage or injury if lifted incorrectly.

    10. WARRANTY WARRANTY The manufacturer guarantees the product against defects in material and workmanship for a period of 2 years from the date of the original purchase. The warranty only applies if the product is for household use. The warranty does not cover breakdowns due to normal wear and tear. The manufacturer agrees to replace parts identified as defective by the designated distributor.

    11. PRODUCT FAILURE WHAT TO DO IF MY MACHINE BREAKS DOWN? If you bought your product in a store: a) Empty the fuel tank if your product has one. b) Make sure that your machine is complete with all accessories supplied, and clean! If this is not the case, the repairer will refuse the machine.
