4.3 Creating and configuring a CP
Requirement
• The station for which the CP is intended has been created.
• The address parameters and the values of the other CP parameters are known.
• "Navigation area" > "Devices" > "Hierarchical hardware engineering" is open.
Creating a CP
1. Search for the CP under:
"Device library" > "Controller" > "SIMATIC S7-4100" > "Communication modules".
You will find the CP in the "Communications modules" subfolder:
2. Add the CP to the desired station on a slot ≥ 5.
3. A name is assigned automatically to the CP depending on the station name.
Result:
The CP has been added to the station.
Further configuration
Assign the intended subnet to the CP interface.
If no network is created, you need to create a network first.
When you connect the CP to an existing subnet, the interface is assigned the next highest
available network address.
Configure the further parameters of the CP. You can find information in the online help for
engineering.
Then load the controller. The configuration data of the CP is stored on the CPU of the
controller.
