Getting Started

We know you are anxious to get your X-Frame 88 up and running, but there are several important things to consider before
you get there. If you are already confortable with the software and general Windows navigation, you can skip this section and
review the Start Up section on page X. This section will guide you through the first steps of getting audio through the X-Frame
88.
To configure, control and install the X-Frame 88, you will need a Windows based personal computer. This computer should
have the following minimum requirements:
Intel® Pentium™ II 500 Mhz CPU or higher
64M RAMM memory
20G HDD or larger
1.2 MB Floppy disk drive
CD-Rom drive
PCI or AGP video adaptor with 8M video memory
17" monitor configured for 1024x768 (75 Hz) operation
Windows® 98SE, ME, 2000 or XP operating system
In addition, you will need your copy of XWare that came with your X-Frame 88. If you have misplaced your copy, you can
download the latest version on our website. (http://mediamatrix.peavey.com)
XWare Software Basics
Before you can use your X-Frame 88, you need to install the included X-Ware software. As of the date of this manual, the X-
Frame 88 is using version 2.2.
To install the software, simply run the installer from the included CD on your computer. The installer will setup the X-Ware
application and the associated support documents on your computer and place shortcuts on your Start menu and desktop.
Although you can customize your installation, it is recommended that first-time users take the default installation path and all
options as they appear in the setup process. After the installation is complete, you should re-start your computer.
Running multiple versions of X-Ware on the same computer is supported. Use the latest version, or the version that you
require for X-Frame 88s that may be in your inventory. By installing multiple copies, you can support X-Frames from previous
vintage.
NOTE: X-Ware software versions include flash applications as well. The version of flash that runs on the X-Frame 88 must
match the version on your Windows computer. If you have a large number of X-Frame 88s that you must support, and you do
not wish to upgrade them, it is recommended that you keep all versions installed. At the very least, you should archive previous
versions of the software so you can service your installation base in the future.
If you wish to remove X-Ware from your computer, use the un-install tool that is included with the installation. This can be
found in the Start menu for the X-Ware application. If an un-install option is not available, use the Add/Remove Programs tool
in the Windows Control Panel. After completely removing the software, re-start your computer before beginning any addition-
al installations.
X-Ware is a standard Windows application and is started by running the PAVCON.EXE file found in the installation folder.
Normally, this is C:\Program Files\MediaMatrix\X-Ware. A shortcut to this location is provided in the Start Menu | Programs
folder. Additionally, the default setup process will install a shortcut to this location on your desktop. Double-clicking on any
of these shortcuts or the actual PAVCON.EXE file will start X-Ware.
