10. MAINTENANCE AND
TROUBLESHOOTING
This chapter provides the information necessary for the maintenance and checking of
the FELCOM. Please review the safety information at the beginning of this manual be-
fore attempting any maintenance procedures.
10.1

General Checking and Maintenance

Turn off the power before conducting any maintenance procedures other than the
cleaning of the terminal unit.
How to clean the terminal unit
Wipe the LCD carefully to prevent scratching, using tissue paper and an LCD cleaner.
To remove dirt or salt deposits, use an LCD cleaner, wiping slowly with tissue paper
so as to dissolve the dirt or salt. Change paper frequently so the salt or dirt will not
scratch the LCD. Do not use solvents such as thinner, acetone or benzine for cleaning;
they can remove paint and marks or deform the equipment.
How to check connectors and ground terminal
Check that the connectors and earth terminal on the terminal unit are tightly fastened.
If the copper strap (earth material) has rusted, clean it.
If the terminal unit cannot be turned on...
• Check if the fuse in the power cable has blown.
• Check if the power cable connector on the rear panel of the terminal unit is tightly
fastened.
• Check if the ship's mains switchboard is turned on.
• If you still cannot turn on the power, have a qualified technician check the power
voltage at the power connector on the rear of the terminal unit.
WARNING
ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD
Do not open the equipment
(other than when installing flush
mount hanger cover).
Only qualified personnel can work
inside the equipment.
IMPORTANT
Do not apply paint, anti-corrosive sealant
or contact spray to coating or plastic parts.
Those items contain organic solvents that can
damage coating and plastic parts, especially
plastic connectors.
