Installation and Operation
After you have set up the printer and loaded the paper ( as described
in the Setting-Up Instructions), you are now ready to begin printing.
Self-test
This test causes the printer to print all of the characters stored in its
internal memory. You should perform this test before connecting
the printer to your Apple Ile computer. The test patterns are
printed by following these steps:
1) Ensure that there is paper loaded in the printer and that the
power switch on the right side of the printer is turned off.
2) Tum on the power to the printer while pressing the control
switch marked LF on the control panel.
The GX-80 will begin printing all the letters, numbers and other
characters stored in its ROM (Read Only Memory). Note that this
printing is in draft mode. To see the same test in NLQ (Near Letter
Quality) mode, tum the printer on while pressing FF.
Figure 1-1 shows partial results for both tests.
