SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Do not attempt to use this equipment until you
have thoroughly read the engine manufacturer's
manual supplied with your welder. It includes
important safety precautions, detailed engine
starting, operating and maintenance instructions,
and parts lists.

ELECTRIC SHOCK can kill.
• Do not touch electrically live parts or
electrode with skin or wet clothing.
• Insulate yourself from work and
ground
• Always wear dry insulating gloves.
• Always operate the welder with the hinged door
closed and the side panels in place.
• Read carefully the Safety Precautions page
before operating this machine. Always follow
these and any other safety procedures included
in this manual and in the Engine Instruction
Manual.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The RANGER®
10,000 and RANGER® 10,000 PLUS
are twin-cylinder, gasoline driven, multi-process arc
welders and AC power generators. They are built with
a heavy gauge steel case for durability on the job site.

WELDER CONTROLS - FUNCTION AND

OPERATION

The engine switch is used to Start the Engine, Select

ENGINE SWITCH

High Idle or Auto Idle while the engine is running, and
stop the Engine.
When placed in the "OFF"
circuit is de-energized to shut down the engine.
When held in the "START"
starter motor is energized.
When in "HIGH IDLE" (
run continuously at high speed.
When in "AUTO IDLE" (
engine will run continuously and the idler operates as
follows:
Welding
When the electrode touches the work, the welding
arc is initiated and the engine accelerates to full
speed.
After welding ceases (and no auxiliary power is
being drawn), the engine will return to low idle
after approximately 10 to 14 seconds.
Auxiliary Power
With the engine running at low idle and auxiliary
power for lights or tools is drawn (approximately
100-150 watts or greater) from the receptacles,
the engine will accelerate to high speed. If no
power is being drawn from the receptacles (and
not welding) for 10-14 seconds, the idler reduces
the engine speed to low idle.
