After this, the warm-up phase is counted down. The duration of
the warm-up phase depends on the status of the instrument and
it can last up to approx. 6 minutes.

Once the warm-up phase has elapsed, the exhaust-gas measu-
ring instrument is flushed for a period of 30 s. This time is counted
down in the display (2). Once flushing has been completed, the
instrument is ready for operation and is in measurement mode.
The HC value (1) and the CO value (2) are displayed. The engine
speed (10) and oil temperature (9) are only displayed on the ETT
6.22. The oil-temperature sensor is a special accessory.

If in measurement mode no exhaust-gas values are measured
within a period of 5 minutes (HC < 30 ppm, CO < 0.05 vol. %)
or the pump key p (3) pressed, the instrument automatically
switches to pause mode.

i The user menu is called up from pause mode by pressing the
E key (5). The user menu is used, e.g. for setting the number
of pulses. For further details, see section 5.2 User menu.
Press the pump key p (3) to return to measurement mode. The
exhaust-gas measuring instrument is flushed for a period of 30 s.
This time is counted down in the display (2).

Once flushing has been completed, the instrument is ready for
operation again.

4.1.3 Leak test
Danger! Hot parts!
The sampling probe can become very hot depending
on the length of the exhaust-gas measurement.
The leak test can be performed either during the warm-up phase
in the warm-up menu or, while the instrument is in pause mode,
in the user menu.
i The leak test can be aborted at any time by pressing the pump
key p (3).
– During the warm-up phase, press the E key (5). The submenu
option LEAC (leak test) is selected.

– Seal the sampling probe (19) with test jack (20).
The sampling system is tested for leaks and the vacuum loss is
indicated in mbar (1).

After the leak test has been completed, either the message
PA55S or FA1L is displayed.
– Remove the test jack (20) from the sampling probe (19).
– Return to the starting point by pressing the pump key p(3) twice.
– If a leak is detected, the error message FA1L is displayed.
