4. Exhaust analysis
4.1 Putting into operation
Before putting the measuring instrument into operation for the
first time, carry out the instructions in Section 3.4.
4.1.1 Prior to exhaust analysis, check the:
– sampling probe (damage, clogging)
– filter (fitted, damage)
– sampling hose (damage, clogging)
– filters GF1, GF3 and GF4
– coarse filter (GF2) in the water separator
4.1.2 Switching on the instrument
– Push the mains lead into the earthed socket outlet
or
– connect the battery connecting cables to the B+ (red) and B-
(black) terminals on the vehicle battery.
A self-test is carried out. During this test, various readings are
displayed one after the other in the digital displays for HC (1) and
CO (2).
The exhaust-gas measuring instrument is initialised and the
hardware version number is displayed.

i A leak test can be carried out on the sampling system during
the warm-up phase. To do this, press the E key (5) during
the warm-up phase. For further details, see section 4.1.3
