TO ENSURE SAFE INSTALLATION AND EFFICIENT,
DEPENDABLE OPERATION OF YOUR FIREPLACE
INSERT. PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS IN THEIR
ENTIRETY AND MAKE THEM AVAILABLE TO ANYONE
USING OR SERVICING THIS GAS APPLIANCE.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ALTER OR MODIFY THE
CONSTRUCTION OF THIS APPLIANCE OR ITS
COMPONENTS. ANY MODIFICATION OR ALTERATION
WILL VOID THE WARRANTY, CERTIFICATION AND
LISTING OF THIS APPLIANCE.

A QUALIFIED SERVICE AGENCY.

• External regulator (for Propane only)
• Piping that complies with local code
• Manual shut-off valve -
T-Handle valve may be required in
Massachusetts
• Sediment trap
- if required by code
• Tee joint
• Pipe wrench
• Pipe sealant
• 10 mm open end wrench
• 1/2" & 7/16" open end wrench
• Phillips head screwdriver
• Flat head screwdriver
PLEASE NOTE:
Initial Break-in
It is normal for smoke and odor to occur during the initial stages
of operation, depending upon temperatures generated over
time. This curing condition can be alleviated by promoting fresh
air circulation within the immediate vicinity of the appliance.
Operational Sounds
Please be aware that cast iron and steel components expand
and contract with temperature fluctuations that are often
accompanied by "creaking" or "pinging" sounds. This is the result

Installation Requirements for the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts
THIS PRODUCT MUST BE INSTALLED BY
A LICENSED MASTER OR JOURNEYMAN
PLUMBER OR GAS-FITTER WHEN
INSTALLED IN THE COMMONWEALTH
OF MASSACHUSETTS.
1. If there is not one already present, on each
floor level where there are bedroom(s), a
carbon monoxide detector and alarm shall
be placed in the living area outside the
bedroom(s). The carbon monoxide detector
shall comply with NFPA 720 (2005 Edition).
2. A carbon monoxide detector shall:
a) Be located in the room that houses the
appliance or equipment;
b) Be either hard-wired or battery powered or
both; and
c) Shall comply with NFPA 720 (2002
Edition).
3. A Product-approved vent terminal must be
used, and if applicable, a Product-approved
air intake must be used. Installation shall be
in strict compliance with the manufacturer's
instructions. A copy of the installation
instructions must remain with the appliance
or equipment at the completion of the
installation.
