Working with Google Maps and GPS

Use the Google Maps application to find your current location, get directions to your destination, and
find other location-based information.
To search for places or find your current location using Google Maps, you must enable the resources
required for plotting positions by doing the following:
1. From the main Home screen, touch the Android Settings icon

2. Touch Location & security.
3. Enable Use wireless networks, Use GPS satellites, or both.
Note: Selecting Use GPS satellites enables you to pinpoint locations down to the street level. However, this
mode requires a clear view of the sky and consumes more battery power.
Finding your location on Google Maps
To locate yourself on a map, do the following:
1. From the action bar, touch the applications icon
2. Touch Maps to launch Google Maps.
3. Touch
. A blinking blue dot is marked on the map to indicate your current approximate location.
Note: This function is supported even if you do not have GPS.
Finding a specific location on Google Maps
1. From the action bar, touch the applications icon
2. Touch Maps to launch Google Maps.
3. Type the place you want to find in the search box or speak the place using the Google Voice Search
function.
4. Touch the triangle mark to start searching. The search results are marked on the map by lettered
balloons.
Getting directions
1. From the action bar, touch the applications icon
2. Touch Maps to launch Google Maps.
3. Touch
and type the addresses of the starting location and the destination location.
4. Touch a travel method (car, bus, or walk) and touch Go. The detailed directions are displayed on
the screen.
Using other functions of Google Map
Touch
and choose to view the map through the Traffic layer, Satellite layer, Terrain layer, or Latitude
layer.
Touch
to find landmarks, places of business, restaurants, and other places near your current location.
