Generic Sensors

In generic mode the input (AI1) can be configured as temperature, flow, pressure, percent, or ppm.
In any case, the input is a 4–20 mA sensor. Whenever the controller is configured for generic mode,
the input must be connected to the 4–20 mA input on the controller. The range of the sensor being
used (for example, 4–20 mA is 0–5 in. wc.) is configured with the device plug-in of a software service
tool (such as the Rover™ service tool).

Binary Input Switching Devices

The binary input determines occupancy in SCC mode. If the input is open the controller is in
occupied mode and if the input is closed the controller is in unoccupied mode. A binary switching
device, such as a time clock or motion sensor, can be used to control the occupancy mode of the
controller. In generic mode the control loop is enabled if the input is open. The loop is disabled if
the input is closed. A binary switching device, such as a flow switch, can be used to enable the
control loop.

Binary Output Actuators and Relays

There are three binary outputs on the MP501. Binary outputs 1 and 2 are TRIAC outputs. These
outputs can be configured to control a tri-state modulating actuator or stage on two separate binary
points. The tri-state modulating actuator cannot exceed a 12 VA (0.5 A) current draw at 24 Vac.
Binary output 3 is a Form A (SPST) relay output. This relay is energized whenever the controller
is occupied (SCC) or enabled (generic). Relays connected to this binary output on the controller
cannot exceed 1 A current draw at 24 Vac.

Analog Output Actuator

The MP501 has a 0–10 Vdc output to drive an actuator. The actuator connected to this analog output
cannot exceed 10 mA current draw.
Note: The MP501 will control only one actuator. You cannot have both a 0–10 Vdc actuator and a
