Selecting the AF Area and AF Point
(Viewfinder Shooting)
Depending on the lens used, the number of usable AF points, AF point
patterns, Area AF frame shape, etc. vary. For details, see "Supplemental
Information".
AF Area Selection Mode
128
N: Spot AF (Manual selection)
The camera focuses in a narrower area
than 1-point AF.
Eff ective for pinpoint focusing or
focusing on overlapping subjects such
as an animal in a cage.
Because the AF area is narrow, focusing
may be diffi cult in some shooting
conditions.
E: 1-point AF (Manual selection)
The camera focuses using a single AF
point.
F: Zone AF (Manual selection of
zone)
The camera focuses in a zone consisting
of nine AF points. Subjects are easier to
acquire than with 1-point AF.
Generally focuses on the nearest
subject. Note that any detected faces
are given priority in focusing.
With AI Servo AF, focusing continues as
long as subjects can be tracked within
the zone.
