Service

• Moving parts, such as an impeller blade, can
pinch or amputate fingers. To reduce risk of
injury, always disconnect power from the agitator
before performing maintenance or service.
• Improper handling of hazardous fluids or inhaling
toxic fumes can cause serious injury due to
splashing in the eyes, ingestion, or bodily
contamination.

Shaft Seal Removal and Replacement

The shaft seal (2) and spacer (3) are located at the
bottom of the agitator flange (1). The shaft seal
should be inspected periodically, per usage, for wear
or damage, and replaced if necessary.
To inspect and replace the shaft seal follow the steps
below.
1. Disconnect the VFD power supply.
2. Remove the motor and the agitator shaft by
reversing the steps in
and Impeller Installation, page 7
3. Remove the cap screws (5) holding the bearing
housing (4) in place.
4. Remove the bearing housing.
5. Remove the spacer (3) and shaft seal (2).
6. Inspect the seal for damage. Replace if
necessary.
7. To reinstall, place the new seal spring-side down
in the flange (1) with spacer on top of it.
8. Place the bearing housing on the flange and
secure with the cap screws. Tighten securely.
