Configuration Tool

The configuration tool used to configure the PROFINET LAN containing the PNS module
must support IO Devices configured with GSDML V2.3 files.
The PAC Machine Edition PLC Logic Developer programmer is used to create and download
the configuration for an RX3i PROFINET network and its devices.

Adding an IO-Device to a PROFINET LAN

Use the PROFINET I/O configuration tool to add an IO-Device to the LAN:

Configuration
Configure a PROFINET I/O Controller and its PROFINET LAN using the I/O Controller
manufacturer's recommended PROFINET I/O configuration tool.
Configure the parameters of the PROFINET I/O Controller.
Add IO-Devices to the LAN.
PROFINET Scanners and other types of IO-Devices use GSDML files to describe their
capabilities. The PROFINET I/O configuration tool imports these GSDML files and
incorporates the devices into the configuration.
Configure the parameters of the RX3i PROFINET Scanner.
Configure the communications properties of the PROFINET I/O Controller and RX3i
PROFINET Scanner.
Add RX3i/Series 90-30 modules to the RX3i PROFINET Scanner.
Configure the parameters of the modules.
When the configuration is ready, use a DCP tool to assign a Device Name to the RX3i
PROFINET Scanner so the PROFINET IO-Controller can connect to it and deliver the
configuration.
Store the configuration data from the configuration tool to the PROFINET I/O
Controller.
In the case of an IO-Device consisting of a rack of RX3i I/O modules, that rack must
contain an RX3i Scanner PNS001 as its head-end. For SOE applications, use PNS101
instead.
In the case of an IO-Device consisting of a remote drop of RX3i I/O modules, but no
RX3i I/O rack, the CEP001 acts as the head-end unit. For product details, refer to the
PACSystems RX3i CEP PROFINET Scanner User Manual, GFK 2883.
In the case of an IO-Device consisting of a rack of VersaMax I/O modules, that rack
must contain a VersaMax Scanner IC200PNS001 or IC200PNS002 as its head-end.
