The cable uses an 8-pin RJ-45 connector that plugs into the RJ-45 socket on the E-820.

Each client can print to the E-820 if it has been shared by a Windows NT 4.0/2000 server or a Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP computer.

The E-820 with IPX connections has the following characteristics: • A minimum connection to the E-820 consists of a NetWare file server, a NetWare print server, and a NetWare queue.

    2-10 Setting up Network Servers You do not need to rerun Setup when you add or remove a NetWare queue; however, you should restart the E-820 after you create or remove a queue. When the E-820 is configured to connect to a NetWare server, it polls the NetWare server for jobs in each of its queues.

  • Page 36 2-12 Setting up Network Servers Setting up an NDS connection In NDS, all NetWare entities (objects) are organized in a hierarchical tree structure. Objects have a name, properties, and a context that defines the location of the object in the directory tree. For the E-820, you are mainly concerned with defining a printer, a print server object, and one or more print queue objects.

Before Preparing for you perform Setup, you must decide the levels of access you will implement for your E-820 Setup site.

    4-3 E-820 Control Panel Activity light The activity light indicates the current E-820 activity. If the light is: Solid red An error has occurred, causing the E-820 to be disabled. Flashing red An error has occurred, causing printing to be disabled, but the E-820 is capable of processing.

The status area at the bottom of the display window displays the screen name and highlights one of the icons to indicate what the E-820 is doing.
