vehicles with automatic transmission:
R
you brake the vehicle to a standstill in trans‐
mission position h or i.
vehicles with automatic transmission:
R
you engage transmission position j.
if all vehicle conditions for an automatic
R
engine stop are met.
If you switch on the HOLD function or select
transmission position j, the engine will auto‐
matically stop in the following situations:
you stop behind a vehicle that is pulling
R
away.
you stop at a stop sign when there is no vehi‐
R
cle in front of you.
you turn the steering wheel hard at a low
R
speed.
The è symbol appears in the multifunction
display when the vehicle is stationary. If not all
the vehicle conditions are met, the ç symbol
appears in the multifunction display.
The engine is restarted automatically if:
vehicles with automatic transmission: in
R
transmission position h, you release the
brake pedal when the HOLD function is not
active.
vehicles with automatic transmission:
R
you shift out of transmission position j.
vehicles with automatic transmission:
R
you shift into transmission position h or
k.
you depress the accelerator pedal.
R
you change the vehicle level.
R
an automatic engine start is necessary.
R
If the engine was switched off by the ECO start/
stop function and you leave the vehicle, a warn‐
ing tone sounds. The display message
operational Switch off the ignition before exiting
also appears in the multifunction display. If you
do not switch off the ignition, the ignition is
automatically switched off after one minute.

A display appears in the instrument cluster
when switching the ECO start/stop function
off/on.

A continuous display appears in the instru‐
ment cluster while the ECO start/stop func‐
tion is deactivated.
