3. Handling Optical Pickup
- Optical pickup and magnetic head are structurally precise and
fragile. Keep track of the tip of laser power meter contacting
these parts.
- The sensor equipped with laser power meter is fragile. Keep
track of the optical pickup lens contacting the part.
- Temperature generated in the center of laser beam exceeds
approx. 180°C. Avoid a prolonged laser power adjustment as
the center of laser power meter may be burned.
- The level of the light power should not exceed 6.0mW anytime,
as this may deteriorate the optical pickup.
- Do not activate the laser power adjustment mode while MD is
inserted to the unit, as this may deteriorate MD.
12.3.1.3. Laser Power Adjustment
1. Entering Laser Power Adjustment Mode
* Procedure for entering the adjustment mode depends on the type
of laser power meter.
(For stick type of laser power meter)
a. Remove the laser power meter cover. (Cf. Fig. 19)
b. Move the sensor to the top right of the optical pickup. (Cf. Fig.
20)
c. At service mode, press the number key on the remote controller,
"10", "2", and then
[1]. (Laser power adjustment mode is activated.)
FL Display: [PLAY PWR]
(For disc type of laser power meter)
a. At service mode, press [PLAY/REC] key on the remote
controller. (Laser power adjustment mode is activated.)
FL Display: [PLAY PWE]
b. Insert the laser power meter. (Cf. Fig. 21)
2. While the above FL display appears, check the "read power value".
If the value is out of the reference range, adjust with [
] keys on the remote controller.
Reference Range (read power): 600±30
