Drive shaft removal
Removing the rear axle drive shafts

Lock differential with screws to secure sliding sleeve
before removing drive shafts of rear axle. Problems
could otherwise arise when the drive shaft is
reinstalled.

Lock differential with screw:
•
Remove electrical connector (1) from shift cylinder cover (2).
•
Unscrew sensor with box wrench (SW 27 mm).
•
Carefully screw screw (3) all the way into shift cylinder housing.

•
If the screw (3) cannot be completely screwed in: Pull drive shaft out
approx. 100 mm and turn until screw (3) can be completely screwed in.
Removing the rear axle drive shafts:
•
Pull ignition key out of key slot.
•
Lock the differential with a bolt.
•
Unscrew screws (1) on wheel hubs.
•
Place oil pan under wheel hub.
•
Collect escaping oil in a suitable container.
•
Pull out both drive shafts.
•
Protect wheel hub against soiling by using a cap, see chapter "Tools and
Accessories".
•
Refill with oil.
