Drain fuel prefilter
Fuel prefilter (Actros)
•
Open the cap of the fuel tank.
•
Place a container under drain screw (2).
•
Open drain screw (2).

Bleed fuel prefilter
•
Open the cap of the fuel tank.
•
Place collecting pan under fuel prefilter (1).
•
Slacken bleed screw (5).
•
Actuate hand pump (4) until fuel emerges bubble-free
at vent screw (5).
•
Tighten vent screw (5).
If there was no fuel in the fuel tank, press hand pump
(4) again until a perceivable resistance is perceptible.
•
Also bleed with the hand pump at the engine.
•
Close the cap of the fuel tank.
•
Shift transmission to neutral.
Actros, Antos and Arocs | Towing and recovery
Vehicles with fuel prefilter
When the water has separated in the inspection glass
(3), drain the fuel prefilter (1) before bleeding. Drain fuel
prefilter (1) regularly.
•
Press on hand pump (4) and collect water/fuel
mixture.
•
Close drain screw (2).
•
Apply parking brake.
•
Press start/stop button (6) as far as end stop and
hold. Do not depress the accelerator pedal.
The starting procedure is automatically interrupted.
•
If the engine ignites regularly, release start/stop
button (6) and depress accelerator pedal several
times.
The fuel system will bleed itself fully.
•
If the engine does not start, bleed using the hand
pump at the engine.
•
If the engine fails to start, check the fuel system.
