Connecting to the Host
Computer
Depending on the interface on your unit, use a SCSI cable
or optical fiber cable to connect your unit to the host
computer.
Connecting a SCSI Bus Cable
(CSMA-EX200S only)
Use a SCSI cable when connecting a CSMA-EX200S unit
to a host computer that has Ultra 160 Wide SCSI LVD/SE
interface.
Caution
Be sure to turn off the unit before connecting or
disconnecting the SCSI cable. Failing to do so may result
in damage.
Note
The SCSI cable is not supplied, and a commercially
available Ultra 160/m SCSI LVD cable must be provided
separately. In addition, the side of the cable that connects
to the unit must be a 68-pin half-pitch connector.

Make sure that the host computer and the unit are
turned off.

Connect the SCSI cable and terminator as shown
below.

Note
The SCSI cable can be up to 12 m (39.4 ft.) long. (The
CSMA-EX200S internal cable length is 25 cm
(9.8 in.).)

When the unit is one of several devices on
the SCSI bus
A SCSI bus allows you to connect up to fifteen peripherals
to the host computer, including the unit.

Terminator
Turn off all SCSI devices on the SCSI bus, including
the unit.
Caution
Be sure to turn off all of the SCSI devices (including
the unit) before connecting or disconnecting the SCSI
cable to the devices. Failing to do so may result in
damage.
Connect the SCSI cables to the devices on the SCSI
bus, and connect the terminator to the last device on
the bus as shown below.

Notes
• When connecting several devices, the total length of
the SCSI cables between the host computer and the
last device should be less than 12 m (39.4 ft.). (The
CSMA-EX200S internal cable length is 25 cm
(9.8 in.).)
• If the unit is the last device on the SCSI bus, make
sure that you connect the supplied terminator to the
open connector.
