Keypad
The P080 has a 3 x 4 CCITT keypad that supports the following functions:
Telephone communications - the keypad generates DTMF tones which enable
communications with telephone users, provided that the appropriate "telephone interconnect"
infrastructure has been installed and conÞgured.
Infrastructure access - some third-party infrastructure equipment requires a DTMF "access
tone" to be sent before dialling can commence. This prevents unauthorised use of the
communication system.
Selective calling - requires a suitable third-party option board to be installed inside the radio
(eg. SmarTrunk II)
The keys are clearly labelled for quick and easy operation.
Using the CPS, Key-press ConÞrmation Tones can be enabled to provide the radio user with
audible indication that a key-press has been successfully completed. This eliminates operator
uncertainty and the associated frustrated repeat key presses
The keypad operation can be conÞgured for live or buffered dialling :
Live Dialling : the radio automatically keys up the radio and transmits the DTMF tones as the
keypad buttons are pressed
Buffered Dialling : the DTMF tones are stored up and sent when the radio user presses the
PTT button.
When used to communicate with a telephone system, the keypad can be conÞgured as a "Hot
Keypad", automatically switching the radio into phone mode as soon as a keypad button is pressed.
This function increases ease of use and operator efÞciency.
