Unpacking

Before you unpack the contents of the tape drive package, inspect the shipping
container for damage. If the shipping container is damaged, notify your carrier
immediately.
Keep the packaging that comes with the tape drive in case you have to return it for
service or warranty replacement.

Parts inventory

Make sure that you received the following parts:
v Tape drive
v Mounting screws
v Cleaning cartridge
v Four internal USB cables
If any of these items are missing or damaged, contact your place of purchase for
replacement.

Preinstallation requirements

In addition to the contents that are included with the tape drive, you need the
following items to install the tape drive:
v A USB 2 port
v An available 5.25-inch, half-high bay, or two available hard disk drive bays in a
v Backup application software that supports the tape drive
v Phillips screwdriver, if the server or workstation has Phillips screws
v Flat-blade screwdriver, if the server or workstation has slotted screws
v Torx screwdriver, if the server or workstation has torx screws
Before you install the tape drive, consider the following information:
