VALVE INSPECTION

CAUTION
The EXHAUST valves are sodium filled and should be
handled with care. Use proper protection when
handling a broken exhaust valve.
NOTICE
Valves with 100 hours or more will have noticeable
markings on the valve face. This is normal and should
not cause valve leakage. Both valves shown are
acceptable and would not require replacement.
1. Remove all carbon from valves with a soft wire wheel
or brush.
2. Check valve face for pitting or burnt spots.
q
3. Inspect the valve stem
in various spots for wear or
pitting. To check for bent valve stems, mount valve in
a drill or use "V" blocks and a dial indicator.
4. Check the end of the valve stem
wear or damage.
