F.1 Firmware Update Process
You may need to update firmware because:
• You may need to use new modules that cannot work without the
newest firmware. Your instrument will generate an error
message if you try to insert a module that is not supported by
your instrument's current firmware.
• To enhance the usability and functionality of your instrument.
New features may be available with new firmware revisions.
How to Get a Firmware Update
Download Firmware Update from Internet
You can also download, free of charge, the new Firmware Update
for your instrument by accessing http://www.hp.com/go/lightwave,
clicking on <Support>, and then clicking on <Software & Patches>.
http://www.hp.com/go/lightwave also contains the most current
product information for your instrument, for example, User's
Guides, VISAplug&play Instrument Drivers, Product Notes, and
Application Notes.
Firmware Update Request Card
If you don't have access to the World Wide Web, you can return the
Firmware Update Request Card to Hewlett-Packard to subscribe
with us to receive the most current Firmware Update for your
instrument as it becomes available. The Firmware Update Request
Card is supplied with this User's Guide.
You can choose to receive the Firmware Update on:
• a CD-ROM containing in addition to the Firmware Update itself,
the latest User's Guides and the latest HP 816x VXIplug&play
Instrument Driver or
• a set of floppy disks containing the Firmware Update alone.
