Operation

Fitting and adjusting the middle handle F
Fitting:
Open the quick-release fastener [B].

Orientate the middle handle [D] in the desired
Î
position. When doing so, ensure that the middle
handle is located in the notch guide [A].
Tighten the screws [C] on the middle handle.
Î
Close the quick-release fastener [B].
Î
Adjusting:
To adjust the position of the middle handle [D],
Î
open the quick release fastener [B] and push
the handle up and down until it sits in the desired
position. Close the quick-release fastener [B] to
lock the handle in place.
Risk of injuries due to the cutting tool.
¾ Only adjust the device with the motor
switched off and the cutting tool at a
standstill.
¾ Do not reach into the area of the rotating
line.
¾ Always remove the power pack prior to
working on the device.
Operation
Inserting the power pack G
Incorrect handling of the power pack and
the charger
ÂRisk of injuries and material damage
¾ Read and observe the operating instruc-
tions of the power pack and the charger.
Align the power pack [B] in the recesses [C] of
Î
the tool.
Slide the power pack [C] into the tool until it
Î
audibly clicks into place and is then seated se-
curely 1 .
Switching the device on H
Risk of injuries or material damage.
¾ Always hold on to the device with both
hands during operation. One hand en-
closes the handle, the other hand holds
the middle handle.

Press the lockout switch [C] and hold it in this
Î
position 1 .
Press the on/off switch [B] 2 .
Î
Once the device is operating, release the lockout
Î
switch 3 .
Keep the on/off switch pressed to continue oper-
Î
ating the device. The further the on/off switch is
pressed, the higher the speed of the motor.

Limiting the trimmer speed H
You can work at a more efficient speed to extend
the running time of the power pack for larger jobs or
you can increase the trimmer speed for jobs requi-
ring higher power.
Pull the speed control [A] to the rear towards the
Î
power pack compartment into position "LO" in
order to use the trimmer in energy saving mode.
Push the speed control [A] forwards in the
Î
direction of the middle handle into position "HI" in
order to cut areas with thicker vegetation where a
higher speed is needed.
Switching the device off H
To switch the device off, release the on/off
Î
switch [B] completely.
3 The device is switched off.
Note
The cutting tool continues to run for a brief
period after being switched off.
Note
The lockout button automatically returns to
its initial position when you release the on/
off switch.
Line adjustment I
Touch the running device with the middle of the
Î
line head [A] onto firm ground, e.g. a paving
stone or compressed earth (pressing down force
about 3 kg). About 1.5 cm of cutting line is auto-
matically fed out.
Note
Lengthening of the nylon line to more than
the cutting width of 381 mm has a negative
effect on the performance, the running time
and the service life of the trimmer as the
motor could be damaged.
