Note: Each Serial ATA drive comes with a cable. If you install an additional
Serial ATA drive, you will need an additional cable.
To install a SATA hard disk drive in bay 4 or 5, complete the following steps:
1. Read the safety information that begins on page v and the "Installation
guidelines" on page 15.
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all external cables
and power cords.
3. Remove the side cover (see "Removing the side cover" on page 17).
4. Remove the blue thumbscrew that secures the hard disk drive cage to the
chassis and set it aside.
5. Grasp the hard disk drive cage (at the blue dot) and rotate it up until it locks
into place on the chassis.
Note: You can remove the drive cage from the server, if you find it easier to
install and remove hard disk drives, by pressing in on the locking latch on the
side of the drive cage (indicated by a blue dot) and lift it out of the server.

6. Touch the static-protective package that contains the drive to any unpainted
metal surface on the server; then, remove the drive from the package and
place it on a static-protective surface.
Note: If the hard disk drive comes attached to a drive tray, remove the drive
from the drive tray before you install the drive in the drive bay.
7. Set any jumpers or switches on the drive according to the documentation that
comes with the drive.
8. Align the drive assembly with the guide rails in the bay (with the connector end
of the drive facing you).
9. Gently slide the drive assembly into the drive bay as far as it will go.
