Setting the cooling fan speed for 4 TB hard drives
Prerequisites
NOTE:
Dell recommends that 4 TB hard drives be used only in systems configured with a PERC controller.
CAUTION:
Using 4 TB hard drives in the system without a PERC controller might cause hard drive 1 to overheat under
excessive work load, leading to a potential failure of the hard drive.
About this task
When 4 TB hard drives are used in a system without a PERC controller, the speed of the cooling fan needs to be manually adjusted to
prevent the hard drives from overheating.
Steps
1. To enter the iDRAC menu, press F2 or F11 during post.
