Glossary

banding
The horizontal lines that sometimes appear in a printed image. See
also MicroWeave.
bidirectional
Moving the print head from left to right and right to left, for faster
output.
buffer
The portion of the printer's memory used to store data before
printing it.
character table
A collection of letters, numbers, and symbols that provides you with
the characters used in a particular language.
CMYK
Cyan (blue-green), magenta, yellow, and black. These colored inks
are used to create printed colors.
default
A value or setting that takes effect when the equipment is turned
on, reset, or initialized.
Despooler
An EPSON software program for Windows 3.1 that displays the
status of your print jobs and allows you to manage them.
dithering
A halftoning method in which dots are arranged in an orderly
pattern. Dithering works best for printing images with solid colors,
such as charts and graphs. See also halftoning.
