Chapter 7 Connecting to External Devices — Connecting to the extension control unit (AG-EC4G)

Connecting to the extension control unit (AG-EC4G)

f Connect the extension control unit AG-EC4G (optional) to remote-control some functions.
f When you connect AG-EC4G and set the <POWER> switch of the camera to < j > (ON) and <POWER> switch of AG-EC4G to <ON>, the camera
automatically transitions to the remote control mode.
f Remove AG-EC4G, or ensure the AG-EC4G <POWER> switch is <OFF> to release remote control mode.

Switch functionality in remote control mode

The following switches and buttons on the camera do not function in remote control mode.
f <SHUTTER> switch
f <MENU> button
f Jog dial button
f <GAIN> selector switch
f <OUTPUT>/<AUTO KNEE> selector switch
f <WHITE BAL> switch
f <USER MAIN> button
f <USER 1> button
f <USER 2> button

Recording and playback operations in remote control mode

Recording/playback operations can be performed both on the camera and AG-EC4G when the remote control unit is connected.

Remote control unit connected to the camera

When AG-EC4G is connected to the camera, the operations of the following functions differ from the descriptions in the Operating Instructions supplied
with AG-EC4G.
r <USER 2> button
Has the same function as the <THUMBNAIL> button on the camera.
The thumbnail screen is displayed in the viewfinder and the LCD monitor.

NOTE
t The status adjusted with AG-EC4G connected will always be recorded on the camera. The setting of the <DATA SAVE> switch for AG-EC4G is
currently disabled.
t When the dedicated cable is connected or disconnected, set the <POWER> switch of the camera to < h > (standby) and the <POWER> switch of
AG-EC4G always to <OFF>.
t Use a cable or optional cable that is dedicated for AG-EC4G. Otherwise, a malfunction may result.
t For details on the current from the <REMOTE> terminal, refer to "Details of the connector signals" (page 258).
t For details, refer to the Operating Instructions of AG-EC4G.
